During the four-day Children’s Day and Tomb Sweeping Day holiday, the Kaohsiung Tourism Bureau has launched seven spring festival themes: the Neimen Songjiang Battle Array, historical nostalgia at Kaohsiung Harbor, the Airport Express Sightseeing Bus, indigenous tribal culture, blue highway fishing village experiences, romantic rides along the Love River, and family-friendly outings at Shoushan Zoo—allowing visitors to enjoy the diverse landscapes of Kaohsiung’s mountains, sea, river, and harbor.
Tourism Bureau Director Hsu Chuan-sheng noted that the 2015 Neimen Songjiang Battle Array runs until April 6, featuring school martial arts troupes, a citywide kung fu exercise competition, chef-hosted gourmet banquets, the Luohanmen Buddha Welcoming Pilgrimage, and 3D light projections at temples—perfect for a family kung fu-themed trip.
He also recommends visiting Qijin, Gushan, and Yancheng Old Streets to explore historic sites, sample local snacks, enjoy coastal sunset views, and watch large ships enter the harbor. Additionally, the Yancheng Pier-2 Art Center offers a mini train ride through the Pier-2 and Hamasen century-old railway park, available until April 6.
The Airport Express Sightseeing Bus shuttles between attractions in the Xiaogang area. Purchasing an exclusive e-ticket grants discounts on dining and accommodations, with a chance to win a luxury car through online registration.
The indigenous tribal culture theme highlights Taoyuan and Namasia, where April is peak season for peaches and plums, as well as fireflies. In May, events include the Bunun tribe’s Ear-Shooting Festival and a peach-themed fun run.
The blue highway allows travelers to take ferries from Kaohsiung Harbor out to sea, dine on freshly caught seafood at the tourist fish market, and stroll along the Oyster Pier Harbor to experience fishing village charm. Additionally, from April 3 to 6, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding activities will be held on the Love River.
Shoushan Zoo offers free admission for children under 12 from April 1 to 6, along with events such as an Animal Forest Ukiyo-e Sketching and Coloring Competition, Art Kids Showtime, Easter Egg Hunt, and Art Kids Adventure Challenge.
