The Kaohsiung City Social Education Center held a “Dancing with the Jungle ~ Pen Holder Creation” event today (the 6th) at Mituo Elementary School in Mituo District, creating a warm and joyful learning experience for 120 local parent-child pairs. It gave the children of Mituo District a beautiful memory of creating something together with their parents during their growth.
This event was co-organized by the Social Education Center and the Family Education Center of the Kaohsiung City Government’s Bureau of Education, hosted by the Xinxing Social Education Station, and strongly supported by Mituo Elementary School. It was sponsored by the private organizations Baba Enterprise and Nanliu Enterprise. With the theme of the “Parent-Child Learning Train,” the Social Education Center has been organizing parent-child activities in various districts of former Kaohsiung County, aiming to bridge the urban-rural gap and foster a harmonious society and joyful family atmosphere.
The center chose Mituo Elementary School, which has a history of over 100 years, as the venue for the event, allowing residents of Mituo, whose livelihoods mainly revolve around aquaculture, to come to the school and enjoy quality parent-child time through the event. It also gave parents a chance to temporarily set aside work and happily engage in creative activities with their children, immersing themselves in a joyful and heartwarming experience.
The event invited Li Yueqin, the director of the Xinxing Social Education Station, to guide the participating parent-child pairs. At the start of the event, Teacher Yueqin asked each pair to read out the theme, and both kids and adults eagerly joined in. Teacher Yueqin explained that the original forms of pen holders and pens are wood, sourced from forests and processed into shape, with a frog attached. The pen cap features a jungle elf as its design, combining to form the “Dancing with the Jungle ~ Pen Holder Creation.”
Liu Peixuan, a third-grade student at Mituo Elementary School, came with her grandmother. The grandmother smiled and said it was her first time participating in a parent-child activity in her life, and she felt very happy. Grandma and Peixuan worked seamlessly together, and the finished pen holder was so delicate it could rival the teacher’s own work.
Zhang Yunzhen, a second-grade student, came with her mother. The hardworking mom, while holding her baby brother who is less than one year old, created alongside Yunzhen. The mom said this parent-child activity was a rare opportunity that shouldn’t be missed.
Zhuang Yiyu (fifth grade), Zhuang Yizhen (third grade), and Zhuang Donglin (kindergarten) are siblings. Their mother, Zhuang Mom, also attended a parent-child activity for the first time and expressed gratitude to the Social Education Center and the school for their thoughtful arrangement, giving parent-child pairs in Mituo District a chance to enjoy a unique bonding experience.
