Shanghai Disneyland has begun operational testing. Chinese media reported today that invitees gave “pessimistic” reviews, with many complaining about the high costs. It is estimated that the minimum budget for a one-day trip for a family of three is 2,600 RMB (NT$13,000), while a two-day trip would cost at least 6,000 RMB (NT$30,000).
To prepare for the June 16 opening, Shanghai Disneyland in mainland China launched internal operational testing last week, inviting specific individuals such as employees’ relatives and friends to experience and evaluate the park. Areas outside the ticketed sections of the park, such as Disneytown and commercial facilities, have already opened to the public.
Beijing Youth Daily reported today that some invitees complained yesterday that while the food options inside Shanghai Disneyland were mediocre, the prices were anything but ordinary. Almost all full meals cost between 70 and 80 RMB, and a single Chinese-Western fusion set meal for two people was priced at 250 RMB.
How expensive is the food in the park? A child’s hot dog or breaded chicken cutlet with rice costs 60 RMB (about NT$300), a cheese beef burger is 80 RMB, a can of Pepsi is 15 RMB, and a xiaolongbao (soup dumpling) is 6 RMB (about NT$30) each.
If you visit Shanghai Disneyland from Monday to Friday (and it’s not a holiday or opening ceremony day), the estimated cost for a family of three — two adults and one child — is around 1,020 RMB (about NT$5,100) for tickets; on weekends, it’s 1,373 RMB. For a two-day trip, weekday tickets total 1,938 RMB, while weekend and holiday tickets cost 2,610 RMB.
The report pointed out that if you visit Shanghai Disneyland on a weekend, the minimum budget for a one-day trip is around 2,600 RMB — including a 1,371 RMB ticket, 750 RMB for three meals, and 500 RMB for shopping.
The price for Shanghai Disneyland-themed hotels has not yet been announced, but based on the pricing of parks in the U.S. and Hong Kong, a budget for a weekend two-day trip would be around 6,000 RMB — including 2,610 RMB for tickets, about 2,000 RMB for on-site accommodation, 750 RMB for meals, and 800 RMB for shopping. 1050512
