As the peak summer travel season approaches, many parents are taking advantage of the long holiday to travel abroad with their children. According to sales data analyzed by Eyou Network (Yeeyou Network), among the top five family-friendly travel destinations most favored by parents this summer, Japan secured the 1st, 2nd, and 4th spots with Tokyo, Osaka, and Hokkaido, while Seoul in South Korea and the Singapore-Malaysia region ranked 3rd and 5th respectively. All of the top five destinations are short-haul, nearby countries.
Eyou Network analyzed that when parents travel abroad with their children, they generally prefer short-haul destinations, mainly because the flight duration is not too long and there is no time difference issue, which helps prevent children from becoming overly tired and affecting their mood for the trip. In addition, as the overall cost of a family vacation during the summer break can be quite significant, choosing a short-haul destination can also help save on the budget and reduce financial pressure.
Eyou Network stated that Tokyo, which claimed the top spot, has always been a popular choice among travelers from Taiwan, and recently, with the advantage of the exchange rate and the timing of Japan’s summer discount season, many parents who love Japanese brands have already prepared their shopping plans. Tokyo Disneyland, meanwhile, is a fun paradise suitable for all ages, and this year, with the addition of the newly opened "Finding Nemo" area, it has attracted even more families to plan their summer trips there.
Ranked second, Seoul in South Korea is relatively more budget-friendly compared to Japan, making it a more economical option for parents with spending constraints. Aside from Everland, South Korea also offers a variety of family-friendly entertainment complexes such as Lotte World and ONE MOUNT, which are great for parents traveling with children. Among them, the indoor snow park at ONE MOUNT is a must-visit spot for cooling off during the hot summer.
Osaka, which ranked third, offers not only Universal Studios but also the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan where visitors can learn about marine life, as well as the Osaka Children's Museum, which features science experiment zones, biology areas, and cultural exhibits—making it a great educational and entertaining destination for families. Hokkaido, ranked fourth, allows visitors to enjoy lavender fields in the summer and participate in seasonal activities such as riding a hot air balloon in Tokachi, fruit picking experiences, and the Lake Toya Fireworks Festival.
The fifth-ranked Singapore-Malaysia region offers the chance to visit two major theme parks in one trip, along with other family-friendly attractions such as bird parks and zoos. With convenient transportation, good public safety and hygiene, and no language barriers, it provides a more reassuring travel experience for parents traveling with children.
Eyou Network analyzed that for short-haul travel, the average cost of tour packages during the summer peak season is about NT$5,000 to NT$10,000 more than during the off-season. Given the strong purchasing power in the market, Eyou Network has announced the launch of the "66 Summer Travel Flash Sale Day," featuring a carefully selected range of products with discounts starting as low as 33% off, and the sale officially kicks off at midnight on the 6th (of June).
Eyou Network stated that the purchasing power for both domestic and international travel is very strong during the summer peak season. For this "66 Summer Travel Flash Sale Day," the platform has specially curated a number of popular deals, including 20 classic Japan travel packages alone, which are promoted as potentially offering better value than traveling during the off-season—aiming to capture the last wave of travel demand before the summer vacation.
