Summer vacation is here!Come to the leisure farm with your family to experience hands-on activities and feel the warmth of the soil!To let the public rediscover the joy of playing in the rice fields of olden times, the Hobe Leisure Agriculture Area Development Association will hold a “Parent-Child Scarecrow Creativity Contest” on 8/19 (Saturday) in the Hobe Leisure Agriculture Area. Up to 100 groups of participants are welcome to sign up. The first-place winner can receive a prize of NT$6,000, with total prize money reaching NT$20,000. Parents and children are invited to join in the fun and compete in creativity.
Li Wen, Director of the Agriculture Bureau, said that the Hobe Leisure Agriculture Area is the only leisure agriculture area in New Taipei City. The area covers Pingding Village, Shuxing Village, Ganjin Village, Zhongliao Village, and Shuiyuan Village in Tamsui District, featuring a vast expanse of land with a beautiful and pleasant environment. The area also includes numerous natural landscapes and cultural-historical architecture, making it an ideal holiday destination for urban residents.
To allow more people to experience the rural charm of the Hobe Leisure Agriculture Area, the Agriculture Bureau has guided the local association to organize the “Retro-Style Scarecrow Parent-Child Creation Contest.” In addition to allowing participants to reminisce about childhood memories of the countryside and rice fields, the event also responds to recent initiatives promoting environmental protection and food and agricultural education, helping to instill environmental awareness in children from an early age.
You Liantian, General Manager of the Hobe Leisure Agriculture Development Association, said that the event will use straw provided by farmers as the contest material. Participants can not only freely unleash their creativity to make their own unique scarecrows but also respond to environmental concerns by turning waste into something magical. After the competition, the scarecrows will be displayed within the park as part of its landscape features by the association.
In addition, the association has specially planned a one-day package tour of the Hobe Leisure Agriculture Area for this event. The itinerary includes experiences in farming and creative arts, introductions to food and agriculture as well as environmental education, and visits to local specialty restaurants—satisfying all three desires for delicious food, beautiful sights, and fun activities in one go.
