Riding on the northeast monsoon, the lively and fun series of events for the Lukang Winter Tour Season has begun. The program includes a family-friendly amusement park, Dream Sound Stage, food banquets, markets, and concerts — dozens of activities in total. Spanning a full one and a half months, every Saturday and Sunday, the Lukang Guild Hall and Art Village will host puppet troupes, bands, and theater groups, offering a rich cultural and artistic feast.
Lukang Mayor Huang Zhenyan said, “Wind is a hallmark of Lukang in winter. The winding lanes tame the northeastern monsoon, highlighting the town’s architectural features. The Lukang Township Office has specially planned a series of fun and delicious winter activities, which last year achieved the remarkable feat of attracting 8.74 million tourists.”
This year’s Lukang Winter Tour Season kicks off with the “
Fun Family Amusement Park” event, scheduled from 2:00 to 5:00 PM on October 29 at the square of Lukang Ecological Leisure Park. Featuring large inflatable mats and
other play equipment such as children’s favorite merry-go-rounds, kids can play for free. There will also be magic bubble shows, clown magic performances, and a Halloween-themed parent-child fashion show party. Registration is available via the Lukang Cultural Affairs Office’s Facebook fan page, limited to 30 groups. The event site will also offer parent-child DIY activities, challenge games, and lucky draws.
The 2017 Lukang Winter Tour Season adopts “Playful Winter in Lukang” as its theme. In addition to the opening “Fun Family Amusement Park,” there will be dozens of other activities including “Hidden Little Deer Hide-and-Seek,” “Artistic Lukang Village Lights,” “Dream Sound Stage by the Port,” “Winter Feast Food Banquet,” “Joyful Market Fair,” and “Future Hopes Concert,” among others. These include performances at the Guild Hall’s Dream Sound Stage, Lukang food banquets, markets, and the grand finale concert on December 16.
Dozens of events of various sizes, including the "Mengxiang Stage," "'Winter Travel Delights Food Feast," "'Travel Joy Market," and "'Season's Hope Future Concert," among others, feature activities such as the Guild Hall Mengxiang Stage, Lukang Food Feast, the market, and the grand finale concert on December 16.
Huang Zhenyan noted that throughout the one and a half months, there will be rich cultural and artistic events every weekend at the Lukang Guild Hall and Art Village. Performing groups invited include Wang Yingjun’s Puppet Troupe from Taichung Sheng Wuzhou Pocket Puppet Theater, Wu Shuang Band, Ping Peng Cao Theater, and Little Frog Theater. He encouraged visitors to come to Lukang in winter to enjoy performances, admire historic sites, explore crafts, savor local snacks, and experience the seasonal beauty of Lukang.
