The Evergreen Maritime Museum will hold the “Colorful Ship Wonders – National Elementary School Marine Painting Competition” in May. All elementary school students can enter for free. With the support of Evergreen Marine Corp., this year’s prize pool has been increased, offering young artists the chance to win scholarships. Participants will paint on-site and submit their work the same day. Those who register online in advance (goo.gl/nvFmo5) will receive a small gift. Each participant will be given one sheet of drawing paper by the museum on the day; drawing boards and tools must be provided by the participants. One parent may accompany the child for free, while other accompanying adults receive a 50% discount on full admission.

According to the museum, the competition will take place on weekends during May, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at the Evergreen Maritime Museum, where participants will create their works on-site. Sponsored by Evergreen Marine Corp., the competition will select one Grand Prize winner, two runners-up, and six honorable mentions for each of the upper, middle, and lower elementary school grades. The top prize is NT$3,600, along with exquisite prizes and certificates.

Additionally, to celebrate International Museum Day on May 18, the Evergreen Maritime Museum will offer free admission to all students from May 18 to 20, encouraging young learners to explore the mysteries of the ocean and appreciate shipbuilding craftsmanship. The theme of International Museum Day 2018 is “Hyperconnected museums: New approaches, new publics.” The museum will select several key exhibits and prepare detailed introductions in Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean. Visitors can scan the QR codes on exhibit labels to access multilingual information, enhancing interaction between audiences and the museum and bringing its collections to life.

On Mother’s Day (May 13), there will also be a “Parents & Kids Together, Moms Go Free” ticket promotion. Everyone is welcome to spend the holiday with their moms and strengthen family bonds.
