As one of the three major exhibition areas of the Taichung Flower Expo, Fengyuan Huludun Park features landscape design based on the existing park and the soft-pi Creek riverside. Zone 5 takes inspiration from water, inviting artists to create four land art installations that form an “Earth Palette.” These interactive and playful landscape features attract many families, reflecting Huludun Park’s core concept of cultural harmony.

The 2018 Taichung Flower Expo not only showcased flowers but also emphasized the symbiotic relationship between nature and society. Zone 5 of Fengyuan Huludun Park is built around five key concepts—aquatic life, islands, transformation, cohabitation, and solar terms—combining flowers and all living things into a spectrum of vibrant colors. It features four fun, family-friendly landscape installations, creating an Earth Palette perfect for parent-child interaction.

Among them, the most popular with children is “Fengrui Woven Space,” which uses multiple woven net beds as petals to form a flower in rich, saturated colors. A wind-driven orb installation serves as the flower’s stamen, resulting in a space where kids can freely climb, crawl, and lie down—turning it into a delightful earthbound playground.

In addition, since the opening of the Flower Expo, the park has received widespread praise. After being revitalized and curated by the city government, Fengyuan Huludun Park has become a highlight for both residents and visitors. Originally open until 7:00 PM on weekdays and until 9:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, the park will now extend its hours to 9:00 PM daily to better serve local residents. Parents can now bring their children to Huludun Park after work to relax and enjoy the beautiful night views.

Beyond the Fengyuan Earth Palette, the Flower Expo’s three major zones also feature numerous spaces designed for family fun. In the Houli Forest Park area, the “Playground Under the Banyan Tree” offers sand pits, climbing nets, log tunnels, balance beams, rocking chairs, and tree platforms at various heights—providing a space for children to play and run around while resting.

The “Taichung Precision Machinery Fantasy Park” consists of five elements: a machinery-themed tree, three exhibition halls, a family recreation area, sheet-metal insects, and smart interactive features—giving children a new perspective on the machine tool and machinery industry.

The Houli Horse Ranch Park combines the historic Houli Horse Ranch with the themes of “horses” and “flowers” to create the “Flower Horse Park” themed area. The park’s First and Second Stables not only preserve the historical horse stable architecture but also offer parent-child horse riding, horse feeding, mini horse interactions, as well as the large Taichung Mountain Line miniature train and carousel—fun activities suitable for visitors of all ages. Families are welcome to explore the Flower Expo together and listen to the sound of blooming flowers.
