Kids and adults, this is for you — learn through fun challenges and enjoy an educational experience together with your family. On Saturday (May 25), at 10 AM, the New Taipei City Agriculture Bureau will hold the “Water Conservation Little Soldiers – Join Us in Tamsui” educational event at the plaza behind Tamsui MRT Station. The event includes interactive stations like a debris flow pinball game, soil erosion observation, a community rescue challenge, and a debris flow evacuation experience, offering families a chance to learn about soil and water conservation. Participants who complete all the activities will receive two new creative tapes. There will also be three family-oriented water conservation theater shows. Those who sign up on the website in advance will get 300 free portions of organic vegetables.
May marks the start of flood prevention season, and the Soil and Water Conservation Bureau has designated May as annual Soil and Water Conservation Month. To support this initiative, the New Taipei City Agriculture Bureau is organizing an educational event this Saturday at the plaza behind Tamsui MRT Station to raise public awareness about slope land conservation and debris flow evacuation. Through hands-on educational games, families can learn about soil and water preservation and disaster preparedness in a fun and engaging way, helping to instill these important concepts from a young age.
This event also features a debris flow evacuation simulation activity. As part of the experience, Water Conservation Little Soldiers can join the “New Taipei Debris Flow Guardians 2.0” [email protected] group and wait in the standby area. A red or yellow alert will then be issued, and under the guidance of soil and water conservation specialists, participants will proceed to a designated emergency shelter, simulating the evacuation process during a real debris flow. This helps the public understand the importance of proactive disaster prevention. On the day, there will also be three interactive family theater performances titled “Lost in the Wonderland – Summoning the Mountain God Plus,” which depict how environmental damage in forests can trigger nature’s retaliation, teaching both adults and children about the critical need for soil and water conservation.
