Flight attendants grind white truffles on board — Swiss International Air Lines launches first-class gourmet journey

Swiss International Air Lines has announced that the first edition of its “Swiss Gourmet Journey” will kick off on September 2. Passengers in first class on long-haul flights departing from Switzerland will be able to enjoy seasonal delicacies such as truffles or caviar.

The new Swiss Gourmet Journey service will offer four seasonal special meals per year, each available for two weeks, exclusively for first-class travelers. From September 2 to 15, the service will adopt a steakhouse concept and featurebeef filletand other premium meat dishes. In November, flight attendants will freshly grindAlba white trufflesat passengers’ seats and serve dishes such as truffle carpaccio, truffle soup, or truffle pasta.

In February 2016, the service will includelobster, crayfish, and scallopsamong other seafood offerings; in May, passengers can trycaviarsuch as Osetra sturgeon caviar, Puno caviar, and the uniquely Swiss Unica caviar sourced from the Tropenhaus Frutigen region.
