A new dining option at Yilan Railway Station: The rich flavors of authentic Italian risotto

Two chain stores have opened on the prime corner spot right in front of Yilan Railway Station—one on the first floor and one on the second. The first floor is Mita Handmade Bakery, and the second is Yangcheng Italian Restaurant. We tried it during the soft opening and ate there with friends twice. They offer set meals, pasta, risotto, thin-crust pizzas, and even an upgrade option (+NT$118) that’s pretty good. The space is large, the decor is stylish, and it’s really suitable for group dining.

The location is right across from the train station in a building that had been vacant for quite some time. Not many people noticed, but now two shops have opened up in a row.

The restaurant is on the second floor, with a bakery on the first. As soon as you walk in, you can’t help but feel impressed by the atmosphere they’ve created.

We visited on a weeknight, and the place was almost fully booked—business is really good. Fortunately, we had made a reservation. Our group had people of all ages, and we were lucky to get a long table; otherwise, figuring out seating would’ve been tricky.

The menu mainly includes steaks, pasta, risotto, pizza~~~ and some drinks.

Most items are single main courses, which can be upgraded to a set meal for an additional charge.

The bread that comes with the set meal—it was actually pretty tasty.

Cheese and pesto chicken breast pasta (+NT$20 for larger portion): The flavor is quite good, and most people would probably enjoy it. Guys especially should go for the larger portion (+NT$20) for extra satiety.

Spinach and duck breast risotto (+NT$20 for larger portion): The texture of the risotto has a bit of bite to it, very close to authentic Italian risotto!! Probably because of the butter, the flavor is really rich.

Pan-seared chicken thigh with Southeast Asian Thai spicy and sour sauce

Creamy ham pasta

Grilled Bolognese penne

Spicy girl pasta

Stir-fried basil wild clam pasta

Yilan smoked duck breast with garlic pasta~~ We came back again just days later, so we took more photos of what our friends ordered.

The desserts served as sides were also pretty good. They’re solid, decent-quality desserts.
