The 120-meter "Town Water Slide" debuts in Jiji — glide slowly through the green tunnel

Authorized by the UK and introduced to Jiji Township in Nantou County, this urban water slide made its debut this weekend (October 3–4) in the Green Tunnel. Visitors can slide at speeds of 18 km/h along the 120-meter-long track, enjoying the scenery of Jiji Township from a uniquely low angle. Many visitors praised, “The Green Tunnel looks so towering—it’s a view of Jiji we’ve never seen before!”

This “Ride the Town” event, a collaboration between Jiji Township Office and Left Brain Creative Marketing, has a participation limit of 2,000 people. At the opening on the morning of the 3rd, Nantou County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen and Jiji Township Mayor Chen Chi-heng were the first to try it out. Nantou County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen stated that Jiji boasts naturally blessed scenic beauty, and experiencing it from a different perspective through this creative activity offers a truly unique encounter with the Green Tunnel.

Jiji Township Mayor Chen Chi-heng also pointed out that to avoid polluting the old camphor trees and streams in the Green Tunnel, the Jiji water slide uses clean water instead of soapy water, and has added wheels to the slide mats to conserve water. The hope is that while enjoying the slide, visitors will also embrace the same environmental awareness and work together to protect the Green Tunnel’s ecosystem.

The event organizer, Left Brain Creative Marketing, also provided special themed costumes such as dinosaurs, sharks, and bananas at the site, allowing visitors to try costume sliding. One visitor commented that they usually drive or bike past the Green Tunnel, but experiencing it through sliding revealed just how magnificent it is. After the challenge, they also want to explore more of Jiji’s recommended attractions to discover even more of its scenery.

The “Ride the Town” water slide event will be held over October 3–4, with a limited participation of only 2,000 people per day. Participants can also become VIP players of Jiji Township, receiving gifts such as Jiji Line train commemorative tickets, a Jiji VIP travel passport, and specialty agricultural products.
