On the 3rd in Nantou’s Xinyi Township, the first-ever Grape Princess finals were held, where 10 beauties from various regions competed in an exciting and thrilling contest.The champion was Lin Yanjun, who has previously won titles such as Changhua Grape Princess, Flower Princess, and Hsinchu Zhuqian Princess.The future flight attendant expressed her joy at helping promote Xinyi Township’s grapes beyond Nantou!

Nantou’s Xinyi Township is famous for its Kyoho grapes. With the grape harvest season in full swing, the township office held its first Grape Princess competition. Aside from evaluating beauty, grace, and poise, contestants were also tested on their quick thinking and special talent performances — but most importantly, they needed to demonstrate the ability to market Xinyi Township’s grapes. Contestants pulled out all the stops, showcasing creativity through impressive dance and singing performances in their bid for the Grape Princess crown.

Township Chief Shih Chiang stated,Xinyi Township has many high-quality agricultural products, but unfortunately lacks sufficient publicity and visibility. By organizing this selection, they hope to kickstart efforts in industrial marketing.In addition to promoting premium agricultural goods, it will also help drive tourism.

This year’s winner, Lin Yanjun, has previously won titles such as Changhua Grape Princess, Flower Princess, and Hsinchu Zhuqian Princess. Now with the title of Yushan Grape Princess, she solidifies her status as a frequent contender in beauty pageants. She took home the first prize of NT$200,000. Second place winner Huang Tzu-chien and third place winner Qiu Mei-ju are both classmates from Taiwan University of Sport.The three of them will serve as ambassadors for Xinyi Township’s agricultural products over the next year, jointly promoting the region’s specialties..

A grape charity sale was also held at the event, with strong participation from local residents. The highest bid for a box of grapes reached NT$10,000, creating a lively atmosphere. The proceeds will be donated to low-income families in Xinyi Township’s Dili and Shuanglong villages, and used to support students in furthering their education, bringing tangible benefits back to the local community.Shih Chiang said that he hopes people visiting Xinyi Township will shop and consume locally, allowing farmers to directly benefit from their purchases while reducing transportation costs associated with shipping goods elsewhere.
