了望塔（?望塔）位于2997.9米的望农亭上，高40米，属于防林护火、监测森林病虫害的配套设施，1985年10月1日建成。有一条约百来米的土石路可通达，塔上架设了一台高倍望远镜，借以远眺。
这就是常规旅游所能到达的神农架的最高点了，对面山峰是真正的神农之顶，海拔3105.4米，须报名参加探险队方可到达。
