Shaping Park

　　Shaping Park is situated on the southern side of Tianchen Road in Shapingba District, spanning around 140,000 square meters. Prior to the founding of the People’s Republic of China, it was the private villa of Yang Ruoyu, a democratic figure. The park features lush trees and shaded greenery, including precious species such as metasequoia, camphor trees, olive trees, cherry blossoms, and fishtail palms. There are also large expanses of lawn and lakes, along with amusement facilities such as a playground, ice-skating rink, water park, and children's playground. The park offers tea houses, restaurants, and a guesthouse, making it a comprehensive cultural leisure destination that combines relaxation, entertainment, and dining. Deep within the park lies a rarely visited site enclosed by stone walls — the only cemetery from the Cultural Revolution in the country. It contains 113 graves that bury over 400 victims who died during the factional conflicts of that time.
