Baishitou Gully Ecotourism Area is located within the Tumote Left Banner Experimental Forest Farm, north of the Jinshan Development Zone, covering an area of 28 square kilometers. The area features towering mountains, undulating ridges, and lush vegetation in summer and autumn, with blooming wildflowers, babbling streams, and refreshing breezes, making for a remarkably beautiful natural environment.

At the entrance of Baishitou Gully, there is the "May 1st Reservoir." In 1980, the Hohhot Municipal Gardening Bureau built the Hohhot Qingshan Park here. In 2003, the tourism area underwent redevelopment and planning. The completed tourism area mainly consists of one gate, two belts, and eight zones. The "one gate" refers to the main entrance of the tourism area, the "two belts" refer to the green belt and the rafting belt, and the "eight zones" include the Wave Sky Fitness and Recreation Zone, the Service Function Zone, the West Forest Gorge Military Training Entertainment Zone, the Odd Stone Gully Adventure Zone, the Green Leisure Zone, the Peach Blossom Spring Resort Zone, the Chrysanthemum Gully Water Recreation Zone, and the Wildlife Breeding Zone. Baishitou Gully Ecotourism Area has initially developed into an ecotourism and recreation destination that integrates dining, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment.

Baishi Ecotourism Area is a national AAA-level scenic spot that combines leisure vacation, sightseeing, conference training, and outdoor adventure. It has been recognized as a national water conservancy scenic area by the Ministry of Water Resources. It is one of the key tourism development projects in Hohhot and also an important attraction along one of Inner Mongolia’s four premium tourism routes.

Baishi Ecotourism Area is located 20 kilometers west of Hohhot, upstream of the May 1st Reservoir in Baishi Gully, extending 7 kilometers in depth and covering an area of 28 square kilometers. The area features towering mountains and lush vegetation, with extensive secondary forests, birch forests, poplar forests, pine forests, wild mountain pear trees, and wild mountain apricot trees. The forest vegetation coverage rate reaches 73%, and on shady slopes, it reaches 95%. The area is home to various wildlife, including blue sheep, roe deer, wild deer, rabbits, squirrels, eagles, pheasants, and partridges. Deep within the scenic area, the landscape is truly picturesque with clear mountains and waters. The streams flow continuously. Major natural attractions include the Guanyin Temple by Eagle Cliff, the Flying Stone beside the Water Curtain Cave, the Guanyin Cave in Oasis Gully, the Flying Curtain Waterfall in Odd Stone Valley, the Northern Wei Dynasty Obo Ruins at the summit of Bangchui Mountain, the ruins of the Medicine King Temple, and the former site of the Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Unit in Dadong Gully. Since its initial development in 2003, the area has successively built facilities such as a water park, a land sports arena, a bird garden, a cluster of Mongolian yurts, farmsteads, large and small conference halls, a catering service center, European-style villa resorts, Qinglong Pavilion, Baihu Pavilion, Xuanwu Pavilion, Yanque Pavilion, a 100-meter observation corridor along Baishi River, Longtan Waterfall, Guanyin Cave, a large statue of Maitreya Buddha, an outdoor adventure training base, a real-life CS battlefield camp, a large parking lot, and the Baishi Shopping Mall. There are also numerous amusement facilities, including alpine grass sliding, water battleships, Mongolian archery, water rollers, bumper cars, dune buggies, go-karts, an ancient culture zone, the Twenty-Four Filial Exemplars illustrations, bungee jumping, and space rings. Visitors can also take sightseeing vehicles to enjoy the beautiful natural scenery along the way. The area now has considerable capacity to receive tourists. It is becoming a popular destination for leisure, vacation, and summer retreats for residents of Hohhot, Baotou, and Ordos, demonstrating its strong appeal and unique advantages in mountain, water, and forest ecotourism development.
