Chilegechuan Folk Museum

The Chilegechuan Folk Museum is located in Darjia Village, Taigemu Township, Tumote Left Banner. It officially opened on July 8, 1990. Since the mid-Ming Dynasty, the Hohhot area has gradually developed an economic structure characterized by the coexistence of Mongolian and Han peoples, as well as a combination of agriculture and animal husbandry. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, socialist construction flourished, and many ancient ethnic and folk cultural relics gradually disappeared. To rescue these cultural artifacts and to provide patriotic and socialist education for future generations, Wen Hao, a retired Mongolian official and former director of the Inner Mongolia Museum, built this museum on the site of his family home in his hometown.

The museum complex includes a main building with five rooms, housing and displaying over 400 cultural relics. These include displays reflecting the marriage and funeral customs of various ethnic groups, the history of agricultural and commercial activities, as well as physical objects such as various farming tools, utensils, books, account books, carts, and folk handicrafts like embroidery and paper-cut window decorations.

The Chilegechuan Folk Museum is rich in local flavor and traditional customs, simple yet distinctive in character. It is well worth a visit by both domestic and international tourists.
