Qingshan Martyrs' Cemetery in Tuzuo Banner is a classic red tourism attraction.

Tumote Left Banner is a place of remarkable talent and a long history, serving as one of the birthplaces of northern nomadic peoples. The Mongolian Tumote tribe created a splendid civilization here. Since the Opium Wars, the Tumote Mongolians, together with people of all ethnicities, successively participated in the Boxer Rebellion in 1900, the anti-land reclamation struggle in 1907, the 1911 Xinhai Revolution, and the anti-warlord struggles in the early years of the Republic of China. After 1921, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, the people of Tumote Left Banner engaged in successive struggles against imperialism, feudalism, and bureaucratic capitalism during the First and Second Revolutionary Civil Wars, the War of Resistance Against Japan, and the Liberation War. The Eighth Route Army’s Daqing Mountain guerrillas fought a prolonged battle against Japanese puppet troops here. Many comrades, such as Duosongnian, Li Yuzhi, Rongyaoxian, Jialigeng, and Gao Fengying, sacrificed their lives for the revolutionary cause. Especially during the War of Resistance Against Japan, more Tumote youths joined the revolution, and through their struggle, they welcomed the birth of New China. In 1947, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, many Tumote Mongolian comrades, including -, took part in establishing China’s first ethnic autonomous region—the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Their efforts not only played a direct role in liberating the Northeast but also provided valuable experience for implementing regional ethnic autonomy in ethnic regions after the founding of the People's Republic.

In the proletarian revolutionary struggle, more than 5,000 people from Tumote Left Banner joined the revolution, over 2,450 outstanding sons and daughters of Tumote sacrificed their precious lives for the cause, and 223 were posthumously recognized as martyrs. After the founding of New China, during the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, another 75 people from Tumote laid down their lives and were recognized as martyrs. During the period of social construction, 11 more were posthumously honored as martyrs.

To forever commemorate the martyrs who bravely sacrificed for the revolutionary cause and to inherit and carry forward their indomitable and loyal patriotic spirit, in April 1966, with approval from the Civil Affairs Department of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the CPC Tumote Left Banner Committee and the Banner Government allocated funds to build the Daqing Mountain Martyrs’ Cemetery at the foot of the Daqing Mountain in Bash Village. Covering an area of over 19,200 square meters, it initially interred the remains of 39 martyrs, including Jialigeng. In March 1988, martyr memorial structures were subject to graded management and were designated as a “Key Provincial-Level Martyr Memorial Building Protection Unit.” In 2012, the CPC Tumote Left Banner Committee and the Banner Government decided to rebuild and replan the Tuzuo Banner Martyrs’ Cemetery, officially renaming it Qingshan Martyrs’ Cemetery. The project included expanding the area, landscaping the cemetery, paving the plaza, widening roads and bridges, replacing the gate, constructing new office buildings, exhibition rooms, and a martyrs’ memorial monument, as well as relocating the tomb of Martyr Rongyaoxian. With an investment of over 15 million yuan, the rebuilt cemetery now covers 64,843.28 square meters and houses the remains of 40 martyrs. The cemetery features well-arranged architecture, shaded by green trees, and offers a serene and solemn environment with comprehensive memorial facilities. The entire site is divided into a commemorative viewing area and a martyrs’ resting area. The commemorative viewing area includes structures such as a memorial monument, a mourning plaza, and a martyrs’ deeds exhibition hall. The central memorial monument in the cemetery stands 19.19 meters tall, and the mourning plaza in front of the monument covers over 5,000 square meters, capable of accommodating tens of thousands of visitors.

The managing entity of the cemetery is the Tumote Left Banner Martyrs’ Cemetery Management Office, a fully funded public institution under the Tuzuo Banner Civil Affairs Bureau. It has a designated staffing of five employees, all of whom are currently on duty. For many years, the Tumote Left Banner Martyrs’ Cemetery has meticulously maintained various memorial facilities, diligently researched and organized revolutionary historical materials, and actively carried out diverse educational and promotional activities in accordance with the national and autonomous region’s "Regulations on the Management and Protection of Revolutionary Martyrs’ Memorial Buildings" and the "Hohhot Patriotic Education Base Management Measures." Each year, it receives around 12,000 visitors from all walks of life for memorial activities, effectively fulfilling its role as a patriotic education base. At the same time, the cemetery’s management and infrastructure have seen significant development.
