Hohhot Museum

Hohhot Museum is located in the northern suburbs of Hohhot and was originally the residence of Princess Kejing, the sixth daughter of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. The mansion consists of five courtyards, featuring side halls, a main hall, and inner courtyards. A screen wall stands at the front gate, and there are rockeries and ponds in the eastern part. According to the manuscript "Princess Mansion Chronicles," the residence was once home to Princess Jingyi, the fourth daughter of Emperor Shunzhi, and the great-granddaughter of Dorgon, known as Princess Heshuo Gegge, as well as Princess Kejing, the sixth daughter of Emperor Kangxi. Kejing, also known as the "Clam Princess," married Tundob Dorji, son of Galdan Dorji, and the Khan of the Tüsheet Khanate. The Princess Kejing Mansion was relocated three times: it was first situated in Huayuan Lane, Qinghe County, then moved to the north bank of the Zhadahai River in the northwest of the old city of Hohhot, and finally, a new mansion was built here during the Yongzheng era, where she resided for many years. She was buried in Meidai Village in the eastern suburbs after her death, and her descendants lived in various parts of the city and the eastern suburbs. Although the original site of the mansion has undergone multiple renovations, traces of its former layout can still be seen. After being converted into Hohhot Museum, the ancient architecture now houses cultural relics and exhibitions for visitors to explore.
