The Barga Mongol Tribal Folk Tourism and Holiday Resort is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Barga Mongol Tribal Scenic Area is located in the heart of the Barga Grassland, at the intersection of National Highway 301 and the Manzhouli–Erguna road. It lies 36 kilometers from the border city of Manzhouli (to the east of Manzhouli). In summer and autumn, the area boasts lush green grasslands, sturdy livestock, a cool climate, and a serene, pleasant environment.

This scenic area is a tourism destination themed around nomadic tribes, showcasing the profound and exquisite culture of the Mongolian people from all perspectives. Here, you can dress in traditional Mongolian robes and boots, gallop on swift horses, or ride sturdy camels across the grassland. You can enjoy Mongolian song and dance performances around a bonfire, sip the richly aromatic mare’s milk wine and the fragrant boiled lamb under heartfelt toasts, or savor the whole roasted lamb that both delights the palate and dazzles the eyes. Standing at the Obo (sacred stone heap), you’ll not only be reminded of the romance in the song “Meeting at the Obo,” but also enjoy breathtaking views and a refreshing state of mind. At herders’ homes, you can experience firsthand the process of milking, brewing fragrant milk tea, and tasting traditional dairy products, offering a glimpse into the life of nomadic tribes.

Scale and Features of the Scenic Area: The entire resort is divided into a central area, ethnic sports performance zone, ethnic entertainment activity zone, ethnic song and dance performance zone, and herders’ life experience zone. The layout of the central area is designed based on the Khan’s Palace from the coronation ceremony of Genghis Khan. It features various types of Mongolian yurts, including fixed-style war chariot yurts, luxury yurts, and multifunctional Mongolian table-style yurts, which can accommodate 1,000 diners and 200 overnight guests simultaneously. It serves as a comprehensive entertainment venue, providing all-in-one services for “eating, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment.”

The scenic area houses the Barga Folk Culture Exhibition Yurt and the Genghis Khan Worship Exhibition Yurt. The Folk Culture Exhibition Yurt displays exquisite traditional costumes and handicrafts, recreates scenes of Barga herders’ daily life, and exudes an authentic, rustic charm—like a miniature museum of Barga folk culture—that offers visitors an unforgettable aesthetic experience. The Genghis Khan Worship is the highest form of ancestral reverence in Mongolian culture, and the worship yurt is a scaled-down representation of this sacred ritual.

The resort has 60 three-star standard luxury accommodation yurts that can host 120 guests simultaneously, 12 four-star standard luxury yurts accommodating 29 guests, and 10 ordinary yurts with strong ethnic characteristics that can house 40 guests.

All luxury accommodation yurts are equipped with air conditioning, carpets, private bathrooms, and 3m × 1.4m scenic glass windows that immerse guests in the embrace of the grassland. The comfortable living environment ensures a delightful grassland experience.

Notably, the Barga Mongol Tribe is the first in Hulunbuir to launch the daily “Soul of the Barga” folk culture song and dance bonfire party, available for voluntary participation with an admission fee. The evening includes two parts: performances of ethnic songs and dances representing Barga culture and traditions, and interactive acts between performers and guests. The actors are local herders from the Barga Grassland, whose simple, graceful, and sincere performances allow you to experience the authentic, primal lifestyle of the Barga people up close. The haunting melodies of Mongolian long songs and recreations of Barga wedding ceremonies will enchant you, making you reluctant to leave. The “Soul of the Barga” evening program includes: Mongolian costume performances, recreations of Barga weddings, Mongolian long songs, group dances with ankle bells, chopstick dances, horse dances, unique Mongolian solo dances, Mongolian folk song performances, and morin khuur (horsehead fiddle) playing.
