The Barga Mongol Tribe Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Barga Mongol Tribe Scenic Area is located in the heart of the Barga Grassland, at the junction of National Highway 301 and the Manzhouli–Erguna Road. It is 36 kilometers from the border city of Manzhouli (east of Manzhouli). In summer and autumn, the area is covered with lush green grass, dotted with plump livestock, and enjoys a cool and tranquil climate.

The scenic area is a tourist destination themed around nomadic tribes, showcasing the profound and exquisite culture of the Mongolian people from multiple perspectives. Here, you can dress in traditional Mongolian robes and boots, ride swift horses, or take a leisurely camel ride across the grasslands. You can enjoy Mongolian song and dance performances by the glow of a bonfire, sip on the rich and fragrant fermented mare’s milk and delicious grilled lamb under the warm hospitality of traditional toasting songs. Roast whole lamb not only satisfies your taste buds but also dazzles your eyes. Standing at an ovoo (sacred stone cairn), you’ll be reminded of the romance in the song "Meeting at the Ovoo" while enjoying breathtaking views that refresh both the mind and spirit. At a herder’s home, you can watch fresh milk being hand-milked and traditional milk tea being brewed, as well as sample authentic dairy products—offering a glimpse into the nomadic way of life.

Scale and Features: The entire scenic area is divided into a central zone, ethnic sports and performance zone, ethnic entertainment activity zone, ethnic song and dance performance zone, and herders’ lifestyle experience zone. The central zone is designed based on the palace used for the coronation ceremony of Genghis Khan, featuring various types of Mongolian yurts such as fixed chariot-shaped yurts, luxury yurts, and multi-functional Mongolian table-style yurts. It can accommodate 1,000 diners and 200 overnight guests simultaneously, serving as a comprehensive entertainment venue offering all-inclusive services including “food, accommodation, transportation, travel, shopping, and entertainment.”

The scenic area houses a Barga Folk Culture Exhibition Yurt and a Genghis Khan Worship Exhibition Yurt. The Folk Culture Exhibition Yurt displays exquisite traditional costumes and handicrafts, recreating scenes of Barga herders’ daily life. With its simple and unadorned beauty, the exhibition yurt resembles a small Barga folk museum, providing visitors with an unforgettable aesthetic experience. The worship of Genghis Khan represents the highest form of ancestral veneration in Mongolian culture, and the worship exhibition yurt offers a glimpse into this sacred tradition.

The scenic area offers 60 three-star standard luxury yurts that can accommodate 120 guests simultaneously, 12 four-star standard luxury yurts for 29 guests, and 10 traditionally styled yurts with strong ethnic characteristics that can host 40 guests.

The luxury yurts are equipped with air conditioning, carpets, private bathrooms, and 3-meter × 1.4-meter panoramic glass windows that immerse guests in the embrace of the grasslands. The comfortable living environment ensures a delightful grassland experience.

A unique feature of the Barga Mongol Tribe is its daily “Soul of the Barga” folk song and dance bonfire party—the first of its kind in Hulunbuir—available for voluntary participation with an admission fee. The evening includes performances showcasing Barga ethnic songs and dances, as well as interactive segments where performers engage with guests. All performers are local herders from the Barga Grassland, whose simple, graceful, and sincere acts allow visitors to experience the authentic, primal culture of the Barga people up close. The haunting melodies of Mongolian long songs and reenactments of Barga weddings will enchant you, making you reluctant to leave. The “Soul of the Barga” program includes: Mongolian costume performances, reenactments of Barga weddings, Mongolian long songs, group dances with ankle bells, chopstick dances, horse dances, unique Mongolian solo dances, Mongolian folk song performances, and morin khuur (horsehead fiddle) music.
