Nestled on the beautiful banks of the Yimin River, where the lovers met by the Oboo — you’ll find several smoke-wreathed yurts, home to herder Sirendawa. His family boasts a rich cultural heritage of the Buryat Mongols. Visiting them offers an authentic glimpse into the production and lifestyle of the Buryat Mongolian people, their traditional costumes, culinary culture, as well as their warmth and simplicity. The Sirendawa family has hosted national leaders and distinguished guests, and has organized numerous provincial and national-level on-site meetings.
The Sirendawa family is the closest herder homestay to Hailar, located at the 39-kilometer mark on the Haiyi Highway. It has been designated as a Five-Star Herder Homestay by the Autonomous Region Tourism Bureau. The homestay can accommodate over 150 guests for dining and 10 for lodging. In winter, when you visit the Sirendawa home, they will serve you steaming milk tea and richly fragrant homemade pastries. You can enjoy authentic grassland specialties such as stone-grilled whole lamb, Buryat-style tea snacks, and Buryat dumplings. Additionally, they offer folk performances, costume shows, song and dance performances, horse team welcomes, horse gear displays, horse riding, wrestling, archery, snow bogsn, welcoming liquor, bonfire gatherings, camel riding, Morigan cart rides, and various essential activities reflecting herder life.
