Highlights: Historically, the Oroqen people used containers almost exclusively made of birch bark, but nowadays no one in the township is known to still use them. Introduction: Tuozamin Township is also called Tuohe, and has an alternative nickname: Hunters’ New Village. Tuohe is famous for being home to a relatively large population of relatively pure ethnic minorities. In Tuohe, you’ll see two neat rows of brick houses, at least half of which are inhabited by Oroqen people. The township also has the last remaining traditional Oroqen yurt (called a "chum" or "cuoluozi"), which is kept for visitors to see. Transportation: To get to Tuohe, you first need to take a bus from Alihe Town to Jiwen. From Jiwen, there are two buses to Tuohe every day.

Tuozamin Township: Located in the central part of the Oroqen Autonomous Banner, Tuozamin Township is 100 kilometers from the banner’s capital, Alihe Town. The township covers an area of 2,800 square kilometers and has a population of 1,817. It is an ethnic township primarily composed of the Oroqen people, along with Han, Korean, Manchu, and four other ethnic groups, totaling seven. Tuozamin Township boasts abundant water resources and diverse flora and fauna, including more than 20 kinds of valuable Chinese medicinal herbs and over 30 species of nationally protected wild animals. The soil is suitable for growing soybeans, flax, traditional Chinese medicinal crops, wheat, and more.
