Yimin River

The Yimin River originates from the northern foothills of Mushroom Mountain in the Greater Khingan Range, flowing from south to north. It runs through the entire territory of the Ewenki Autonomous Banner, passes through downtown Hailar, and joins the Hailar River at the northern foot of the mountains near Hailar City. The river is 390 kilometers long, with a drainage area of 22,725 square kilometers. This river basin lies in the southeastern part of the Hulunbuir Grassland, in the transitional zone from mountainous terrain to grassland. Most tributaries are distributed on the right bank, with major ones from upstream to downstream including the Weina River, Weizikeng River, and Xini River. The upper reaches of the Yimin River are mountainous forested areas, with the river being 20–50 meters wide. The area is densely forested and is the homeland of the rare evergreen tree species, the Korean pine. Below Honghua’erji, the river enters a hilly and grassland region, widening to 50–80 meters. On the right bank of the middle reaches lies the famous Weina River Mineral Spring Sanatorium, while on the left bank is the Bayan Hushuo Obo Mountain Grassland Ethnic Culture Tourist Area, an important grassland tourism destination in Hulunbuir.
