Molidaowa Mountain

Named after the mountain itself, Molidaowa Mountain is located in Kuruchi Township in the northern mountainous region of the autonomous banner, 90 kilometers from the banner seat, Nierji Town. The main highway from Nierji to Nuomin Town in the Oroqen Autonomous Banner cuts through the mountains at the foot of the peak, offering convenient transportation. With an elevation of 455 meters, Molidaowa Mountain stands majestically on the left bank of the torrential Nuomin River. The rugged mountain cliffs and crashing waves create a spectacular sight. As you climb the steps to the summit, you’ll be greeted by lush forests of oak and birch, vibrant mountain flowers, verdant valleys along the Nuomin River, eagles soaring overhead, fish swimming beneath the clear water, as well as scattered herds of cattle and sheep accompanied by the distant sounds of herdsmen’s songs.

Atop the mountain sits an elegant pavilion. From its railing, you can gaze into the distance at overlapping green mountains and the ribbon-like Nuomin River. In 1929, the famous “Molidaowa Mountain Uprising,” a rebellion against the reactionary rule of warlords and ethnic oppression in the northern mountainous region of Morin Dawa, was launched with this mountain area as its base. Numerous fierce battles were fought here against the warlord troops led by Xu Zihao. This ethnic rebel army made tremendous sacrifices and outstanding contributions to safeguarding local peace and ethnic interests. A monument at the foot of the mountain commemorates these heroic deeds.
