Alxa Desert National Geological Park is located within the Alxa League of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, with a planned total area of 938.39 square kilometers. The park boasts a rich variety of geological relics, beautiful natural landscapes, and unique cultural attractions. According to the genesis types, geographical distribution features, and preservation methods, Alxa Desert National Geological Park is divided into three zones: the Tengger Zone, the Badain Jaran Zone, and the Juyanhai Zone. Each zone features different types and highlights of geological relics.

With its unique geographical location, geological structure, ecological environment, and climatic conditions, Alxa Desert National Geological Park has formed a landscape dominated by deserts and Gobi, making it China’s only desert geological park. Among them, the Tengger Desert is home to the highest number of lakes in China; the Badain Jaran Desert, China’s second-largest desert, boasts the world’s largest area of singing sand dunes and the world’s tallest sand dunes; the “living fossil” Populus euphratica forests stand proudly, offering a lush green contrast, while the “desert pearl” Juyanhai Lake quietly glimmers, captivating all who see it. The stunning mystery of the Badain Jaran, the spiritual beauty of the Tengger, the shimmering waters of Juyanhai, the intriguing ancient fossils, and the rich cultural history of the Mongolian Torgut tribe all complement one another, representing the essence of the desert geological park. The park features a diverse range of geological relics, magnificent natural landscapes, and a long, unique cultural heritage. It integrates deserts, Gobi, granite erosion landforms, and ancient fossils, serving as both a natural museum for studying the formation, development, and evolution of deserts,

and an encyclopedia for popularizing earth science knowledge. The total area of Alxa Desert National Geological Park is 938.39 square kilometers. Based on the distribution and types of geological relics, the park is divided into three zones, each further subdivided into 11 scenic areas.
