Introduction: Swan Lake is located within Alxa Left Banner (Bayanhot Town), Alxa League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It lies on the eastern edge of the Tengger Desert, about 35 kilometers north-south from Moon Lake and approximately the same distance east-west from Bayanhot Town, the seat of the banner government. The three form an obtuse isosceles triangle. The lake has a ribbon-like shape, covering an area of about 3.2 square kilometers. Its shores are lined with oleaster trees, and the water is clear, clean, and expansive. There is a one-kilometer-long, hundred-meter-wide black mud area by the lake, and the yurt area is abundant with marram grass. The lake is surrounded by the vast desert, where sand dunes rise and roll, creating a majestic and breathtaking scene that is both awe-inspiring and refreshing. Swan Lake and Moon Lake, one larger and the other smaller, are two outstanding sister lakes among the more than 190 lakes in the Tengger Desert. They complement each other and each has its own unique charm, attracting a large number of tourists.

Every year in March and September, various migratory birds stop here, including over a hundred species such as whooper swans and wild ducks. From late March to early April, the lake hosts a relatively high number of swans. At other times, the lake is usually frequented by wild ducks and grey cranes. Around Swan Lake, thousands of blue irises bloom vibrantly along the shoreline, beyond which nearly two thousand oleaster trees form a green barrier. In May, when the oleaster blossoms, the fragrance fills the air around the lake. The tourist area features yurts, scattered amid the oleaster groves in a well-placed layout. The yurts are equipped with [facilities] and telephones, but there is no mobile signal within the scenic area. Visitors can dine and stay in the yurts to fully experience ethnic culture. In the evening, campfire parties can be arranged upon request. Tourists can also enjoy recreational activities such as sand sliding, beach volleyball, soccer, camel riding, horseback riding, go-karting, boating, and motorboat rides on the water.
