Guangzhou Longyandong Forest Park

Guangzhou Longyandong Forest Park is located in the northeastern part of Tianhe District, Guangzhou, on the western mountain slope of Longdong Village, bordering Shanjian in Baiyun District to the northwest. The park lies on the southern edge of the Tropic of Cancer and features a subtropical marine monsoon climate. Unlike other parks, Longyandong Forest Park is a free mountain forest park.

There are three reservoirs in the park: Wolong Lake, Zanglong Lake, and Yinglong Lake. The water is clear and pure, serving as drinking water sources for the nearby area. Not far from the entrance at the Longyandong Archway, visitors will see a gatehouse inscribed with the seven characters “Longyandong Forest Park.” With relatively few visitors, being in the heart of Longyandong Forest Park feels like being deep in an outdoor wilderness forest, where urban vibes are completely absent.

Longdong Subdistrict: Established on December 31, 2002, it was formed based on Longdong Village, which was formerly under the jurisdiction of Shahe Town. It is named after the village located within the subdistrict. In 2003, it covered an area of 11.7 square kilometers with a total population of about 60,000, including 35,000 permanent residents. It administers five communities (Zhongnan, Shangshe, Xishe, Yulong, Oasis) and the Longdong Village Committee. In 2003, the original three neighborhood committees (Longdong, Longdong No. 2, and Longdong Wai) were redivided into five communities.
