Dadousha Village

Dadousha Village is located in the southern part of Shiqi Town, Panyu District, Guangzhou City. It is an isolated island surrounded by three waterways: the Shiqiao Waterway, Shawan Waterway, and Dajiumlü Waterway. Due to being cut off by rivers, as of 2007, Dadousha Village was the only “isolated island administrative village” in all of Panyu.

From the map, Dadousha Village is sandwiched between the Shiqiao Waterway and Shawan Waterway of Panyu, forming an alluvial sandbar island surrounded by water on all sides. It is long from east to west but short from north to south, resembling the shape of a large knife, hence the name “Dadousha” (Big Knife Sand). Residents of Dadousha Village have historically relied on small fishing boats to leave the island, and it wasn’t until after 2001, with support from paired-assistance units, that two motorboats were added.

Transportation: Get off at Panyu Square Station on Line 3 and take a taxi to Dadousha Village. Alternatively, exit from Exit D of Shiqiao Station on Line 3 and take Bus Pan 28 from Beicheng Bus Stop. To walk or cycle around the island, get off at the stop before the terminal; to go directly to the terminal, get off at the final station.

Dadousha Village: The total area of Dadousha is 2,700 mu, with a registered population of 1,127 and a non-native population of 157. In 2009, the village collective income was 520,000 yuan, with a net collective income of 220,000 yuan. Its main sources of income are leasing fees from arable land and fish ponds, as well as developing sightseeing tourism and high-tech, high-value-added planting and breeding industries.
