The Yao Ethnic Group’s Liangguang Boundary River Bamboo Rafting Scenic Area is located 9 kilometers southwest of Lianshan County and features Yao Ridge Flat Lake, one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Lianshan. It takes just a 10-minute drive from the county town to the scenic area. Since its completion in May 1999, the bamboo rafting attraction has been very popular among tourists. With its beautiful and enchanting mountain scenery, the Yao area is also known for the saying “the most beautiful women come from the Yao ethnic group,” and taking a bamboo raft tour through the Yao villages is sure to be an enjoyable experience.

Throughout the four seasons, the captivating scenery unfolds across the ten-mile expanse of Yao Ridge Flat Lake: in spring, you can admire “a lake of emerald waters and red azaleas on both banks”; in summer, “fish playing in the water and birds singing cheerfully in the hills”; in autumn, “green waters cradling mountain hues and the red sun reflecting on the lake’s surface”; and in winter, “cool waters and a serene lake under the fresh, crisp mountain scenery.” It is truly worthy of being called a “heavenly paradise.”

Moreover, the Yao people here are charming in their traditional attire and warmly hospitable to guests. The Yao bamboo raft guides not only skillfully navigate the rafts but also serenade visitors with beautiful folk songs from the Yao mountains, making it an experience you won’t want to end.
