Located in Ouji Village, Taibao Town, Lianshan Zhuang and Yao Autonomous County, Qingyuan City, Ouji Terraces lie at the foot of Lianshan’s highest peak — Mount Dawu (known as the “Roof of Lingnan in Guangdong”). The terraces are distributed in an M-shape around Ouji Village. Stretching nearly 3,000 meters with a grand and majestic presence, Ouji Terraces are the largest and most pristine terraces in Guangdong Province.

Winding up the mountain, the terraces layer upon layer, rising and falling in an awe-inspiring display. As the seasons change, the terraces offer different views: in spring during planting season, they become mirror-like pools of water; in summer, the green seedlings and mist create a poetic scene; and in autumn during harvest, golden waves of rice ripple across the landscape. Such beauty might make you wonder: why go all the way to Longsheng when the terraces of Lianshan speak for themselves?

Layered along the mountain like beautiful ribbons, the terraces transform with the seasons: blooming in spring, lush green in summer, and golden waves in autumn. December – February: Capture Lunar New Year festivities and local folk culture.

March – May: Spring blossoms and wildflowers blanket the hillsides, with golden hues forming seas of yellow flowers.

They surge forth with overwhelming momentum.

May – July: During the spring planting season in Heishan, Ouji Terraces come alive with farming activity. The terraces resemble mirrors reflecting the ever-changing morning and evening glows, creating a colorful paradise.

Reflecting each day’s unique sunrise and sunset, they form a vibrant, colorful heaven.

July – August: In Heishan, this is the season when crops on Ouji Terraces sprout fresh green under plentiful rainfall and misty skies.

The scenery resembles traditional Chinese ink paintings, full of poetic charm.

September – November: Harvest season in Heishan sees the terraces heavy with swaying ears of rice.

Golden waves roll across the terraces, a magnificent sight.

Transportation:

By Car: 1. From Guangzhou → Guangqing Expressway → Qinglian Expressway (Taishan/Lianshan exit) → Longkou Bridge → G323 → Taibao Town → Township Road 807 → Ouji Village. (You can use Amap on your phone to navigate to Lianshan Ouji Village; if not found, update your map.) The whole journey is about 280 km and takes roughly 3.5 hours. (Drivers can also go back and forth between Heishan and Ouji Village — about ten kilometers apart — without affecting sightseeing time.)

2. From Guangzhou → Huanao Expressway → West Second Ring Road → Guangzhou–Foshan Expressway → G55 Guangdong Section of the Er’guang Expressway (toward Lianshan) → Exit at Taibao → G323 toward Taibao → Shizhai Intersection → Shaping Village → Pingzhai → Ouji Village

For backpackers: Take a bus from local stations to Liannan or Lianzhou Bus Stations, then transfer to a bus bound for Lianshan. Get off midway at Taibao Town. There are no direct buses from Taibao to Ouji Village, so you’ll need to hire a car or take a motorcycle. You may also contact the following phone number for assistance. Accommodation:

It’s best to stay overnight in Ouji Village to enjoy the sunrise and sunset over the terraces. While the family-run guesthouses here may not be as luxurious as city hotels, they offer a comfortable and clean environment. Many are equipped with air conditioning and Wi-Fi. Food:

Local specialties include Ouji clear-water duck, flower carp, free-range chicken, free-range eggs, and pork rib soup with Chinese chives.

Shopping:

You can inquire with villagers about local products such as rice, wild lingzhi mushrooms, dried mushrooms, and various mountain-produced oils.

Best Photography Spots:

The Oujiatian Terraces are divided into two main sections based on terrain: the "Lipingtai" terraces located to the right in front of Ouji Village are ideal for shooting sunrise and foggy scenes in the morning, while the areas to the left and rear of the village are perfect for photographing sunsets and evening glow!

Taibao Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Lianshan Zhuang and Yao Autonomous County. It was established as Zhuying Township during the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty, renamed Liancheng Township in 1940, changed to Taibao Township in 1958, upgraded to a commune in 1960, restructured as a district in 1983, and officially became a town in 1986. Located in the northeastern part of the county, it is 22 kilometers from the county seat and 16 kilometers from Sanjiang Town, the seat of Lian Nan Yao Autonomous County, with a population of 13,000. The area covers 139.1 square kilometers. National Highway 323 passes through the town.
