Huanghou Mountain in Lianshan, Qingyuan

Known as the "Foremost Peak of the Beauty Queen of Lingnan," Huanghou Mountain stands at an elevation of 1,405 meters and is located in Lianshan Zhuang and Yao Autonomous County.

According to historical records, Lady Ji Shu, the birth mother of Emperor Xiaomu of the Ming Dynasty (later honored as Empress Xiaomu), was originally named Li Tangmei and was born in Lianshan County. Amid wartime chaos, she was summoned to the imperial palace by the Ming army. After arriving in the capital, she was appointed as a female historian, won the favor of Emperor Xianzong, and gave birth to an imperial son. After her passing, her noble spirit transformed into the perilous peaks and passes of Huanghou Mountain, watching over the local communities.

Today’s Huanghou Mountain combines the unique cultural charm of the Zhuang and Yao ethnic groups with eco-agricultural development, organic tea cultivation, and leisure agriculture tourism to create an integrated eco-tourism resort.

Here, you can slip on a pair of white sneakers, walk along the musical stairway, or stroll down the windmill avenue, breathing in the fresh scent of high-mountain tea.

If you’re feeling particularly refined, you can also pick up a small basket and enjoy the pleasure of harvesting high-mountain tea leaves, savoring the fragrance that wafts from the leaves as they brush against your fingertips.
