Tomb of Mo Chaoyu

The Tomb of Mo Chaoyu is a cultural heritage site protected by Lianshan County.

The Tomb of Mo Chaoyu is situated on the southern slope of Aoyu Mountain in Banwa Village, Futang Town, Lianshan County. The tomb faces south, is built from lime-sand rammed earth, and spans an area of 20 square meters. A tombstone was erected in the Wuchen year of the Longqing era during the Ming Dynasty (1568), and the structure was renovated in the seventh year of the Daoguang era of the Qing Dynasty (1827). The tomb includes three memorial arches, with the central one inscribed with “皇明敕封武略将军谥正大忠义显考讳朝玉字翠峰莫公大人墓”. Mo Chaoyu, also known as Cuifeng, was conferred the title of Martial Strategist General by imperial decree in the 40th year of the Jiajing era (1567), and was also appointed to administer the seven regions of Lian, Yang, Huai, Ying, He, and Qing. He was a prominent local chieftain in the Zhuang-inhabited areas of Lianshan during the Ming Dynasty, and made notable contributions to maintaining social stability and promoting ethnic unity.

In 1990, the People's Government of Lianshan County designated it as a cultural heritage protection unit.

Futang Town: A town under the jurisdiction of the Lianshan Zhuang and Yao Autonomous County. It was established as Fushan Township in 1939, renamed Futang Township in 1951, converted to a commune in 1958, became a district in 1983, and was officially upgraded to a town in 1986. Located in the central-southern part of the county, it is 30 kilometers from the county seat. The town covers an area of 138.2 square kilometers and has a population of 11,000. Provincial Highway 1960 runs through the area, and the Yongfeng River flows within its borders. It administers ten management districts (village committees): Rongli, Xinlian, Taiping, Xiaoxi, Xinsheng, Lekuai, Liangshan, Laotian, Liangdong, and Dulou.
