Zimu Ping Walled Building

Zimu Ping Walled Building is located in Báiyáng Zǐmùpíng Village, Yǒnghé Town, Liánshān County. Originally built in the 5th year of the Republic of China (1916), it covers an area of 2,500 square meters and consists of four wing buildings enclosed to form a structure resembling a rice steamer, commonly known as the "Square Steamer." The walled building follows a traditional courtyard (siheyuan) layout. The surrounding wing buildings are three stories high, with each floor being 3 meters tall and the total height reaching 10.5 meters. Each wing building has a construction area of 967.3 square meters. The main gate of the courtyard is situated at the left corner of the eastern wing. At the front right corner of the eastern wing and the left corner of the western wing, there is a watchtower built on each side, both five stories high, with each floor being 2.5 meters and the total height 12.5 meters. The first and third floors of the wing buildings feature covered corridors that connect all four wings—east, south, west, and north. Each wing building has its own internal staircase, which also interconnects with the two watchtowers on the east and west sides. In normal times, residents live independently, but during wartime, the structures provide mutual support. Every floor of the watchtowers and wing buildings is equipped with shooting holes, offering comprehensive defensive functions against bandits, theft, and fire.
