Shi Yonglou

Shi Yonglou is a cultural relic protection unit of Guangdong Province.

Locally known as Angtang Yanglou, Shi Yonglou is located in Angtang Village, Hekou Town, and is the earliest and largest reinforced concrete structure in Shanwei City. Originally built in 1905, it covers an area of 2,500 square meters and consists of a main building and auxiliary buildings with a total of 99 rooms. The two-story main building served as residential quarters, while the single-story auxiliary buildings were used for kitchens and dining rooms. The outer walls of the building are constructed from reinforced concrete and stone, with walls adorned with evenly sized rectangular carved floral designs.

Shi Yonglou consists of a main gate, a courtyard, and a two-story building. The gate bears the plaque “Qin Mu Tang” (Hall of Harmony), and the corridors on both sides are flanked by four exquisitely crafted cement pillars adorned with carvings, arranged symmetrically. The first floor includes an antechamber, a courtyard, and a rear hall. To the left of the courtyard is a 2-meter-wide staircase, beneath which there is a defense bunker. The second-floor door plaque reads “Shi Yonglou,” and beside the door is a couplet that reads: “Harmony ushers in renewal, prosperity embraces great harmony.”

In 2012, it was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit of Guangdong Province.

Hekou Town: Hekou Town is one of the first central towns in Guangdong Province, covering an area of 169 km². It administers 18 village committees and one community neighborhood committee, with a total population of 50,122. The built-up urban area spans 3.6 km², with a town population of over 20,000.
