Ludong Ancestral Temple

The Ludong Ancestral Temple is located in Yiwu Natural Village, Beizhong Village Committee, Shanwei City, Guangdong Province. Originally built in the first year of the Jianwen era of the Ming Dynasty (1399), the current architectural style dates back to the Qing Dynasty. It faces west-southwest at 1° east, and the entire complex includes an ancient temple, historic alleys, flower stands, a grain courtyard, and a pond. The temple building itself is 10.6 meters wide and 14.8 meters deep, covering a total area of 156.88 square meters. It follows a "three up, three down" layout and is constructed with a brick, wood, and tile structure. The layout includes an upper hall, side corridors, a central courtyard, and a main hall. The roof is covered with grey tiles, with green glazed tile ridges and drip edges. The wooden beams feature intricate carvings, and the structure has a flush gable roof with gable walls in the shape of an inverted “V”. The walls are made of blue bricks, with a stone base, murals on the wall friezes, and exquisite grey plaster reliefs depicting animals, figures, and mythological stories on the walls inside the porch. The beams of the porch and well corridor are made from durable rosewood and are exquisitely carved. Its architectural style holds significant reference value for the study of local Qing Dynasty wood carvings and murals.
