Panlong Ancestral Hall

The former site of the Political Department Command Center of the First Detachment of the Dongjiang Column of the Guangdong–Jiangxi–Hunan Border Guerrilla Detachment is located at Panlong Ancestral Hall in Qinglongbei Natural Village, Baoshan Village Committee, Hetian Town, Luhe County. Built in 1923 and renovated in 2009, it faces south with a width of 19.3 meters and a depth of 19.6 meters, covering a construction area of 378 square meters. It features an "upper five lower five" layout, with stone and brick walls, a flush-gable roof, gray tiles, and glazed tile drip edges. The hall interior is adorned with carved beams and painted rafters, and the walls feature floral and bird murals. The upper hall houses shrines for ancestral tablets, with a large plaque inscribed with “Yu Zhang Hall” hanging prominently at the center above.

During the Anti-Japanese War, this site served as the command center of the Political Department of the First Detachment of the Dongjiang Column of the Guangdong–Jiangxi–Hunan Border Guerrilla Detachment; it was also the location of the detachment’s official newspaper, the Masses Daily, and the printing facility for Guangdong Province’s widely circulated “New Lu Notes” and “Hetian Circulating Notes.” During the Republican era, anti-Japanese generals and officials including Luo Zhuoying, then Chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Government, as well as Luo Weixiong and Luo Shangzhong, inscribed plaques for the ancestral hall. According to records, the late Comrade—former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee—once led and carried out guerrilla warfare against the enemy from “Panlong Ancestral Hall.”
