Ruins of Ningchang Road

The ruins of Ningchang Road are a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Era: Liao, Jin, Yuan

The ruins of Ningchang Road are located on the flat ground on the west bank of the Mengke River in Wujiazi, Manihan Township, Aohan Banner, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. They lie about 500 meters east of the riverbed and are backed by a mountain ridge to the west. The current city walls form a rectangle, approximately 250 meters from north to south and 225 meters wide from east to west, with remnants about 2 meters high. Outside the main walls, there is an additional enclosing wall with sides about 600 meters long, but due to farming and leveling, only grayish earthen strips remain. There are multiple building foundations both inside and outside the city, all of which were leveled during the 1974 farmland consolidation campaign. This was a city site dating from the Liao to the Yuan Dynasty. In May 2013, it was designated and announced by the State Council as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
