Wuanzhou Ruins

The Wuanzhou Ruins are a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Era: Liao, Jin, Yuan

The Wuanzhou Ruins, located in Baitazi Village, Fengshou Township, Aohan Banner, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, south of Junma River, are the ruins of an ancient city from the Liao Dynasty to the Yuan Dynasty. Due to river erosion and farming, the city walls have been poorly preserved, with most no longer existing—only remnants of the northern wall can be faintly discerned, while the rest consist of scattered earthen ridges. Three layers of city walls can be seen: the outermost layer is the most eroded, roughly square-shaped with sides nearly 800 meters long; the second layer is also square, with sides about 650 meters long; the third layer is better preserved, slightly retracted to the north, roughly square with sides around 270 meters long. The remains of the city gates are no longer identifiable. There are three temple ruins around the city.

In May 2013, it was designated and announced as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units by the State Council.
