Inner Mongolia Xinzhou Museum

Established in August 2010, Inner Mongolia Xinzhou Museum is a member of the Inner Mongolia Private Museums Association, a patriotic education base in Chifeng City, and a county-level civilized unit.

Xinzhou Museum is the first private museum in Aohan Banner. The Wuanzhou site from the Liao Dynasty within Aohan territory was the earliest tuoxia junzhou established by Emperor Taizu of Liao, Yelü Abaoji, historically also referred to as Xinzhou. Hence, the name "Xinzhou Museum" was chosen to reflect its status as the earliest-established institution with profound historical significance. The museum houses a collection of over 10,000 items (sets), including more than 300 precious sets, covering cultural relics from five prehistoric cultures discovered in Aohan—Xiaoheixi, Xinglongwa, Zhaobaogou, Hongshan, and Xiaoheyan—through to the Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. The collection features a complete cultural timeline and distinct regional characteristics.

Since its establishment, Xinzhou Museum has actively participated in cultural and social development, earning recognition and awards from local government. In 2013, construction began on a new museum site, which was put into use in October 2014. The new museum building has a total floor area of 9,360 square meters, with an exhibition area of 5,120 square meters, featuring six thematic exhibition halls. Among them, the "Aohan Tribe" exhibition is a specially curated display rich in local historical and cultural characteristics. It focuses on the birth, development, and growth of the Aohan Tribe by showcasing cultural relics from the Zhasake, Duoluo Junwang Mansion, Haili Wang Mansion, and the folk Mongolian culture between the eighth year of the Wanli era in the Ming Dynasty (1580) and the 38th year of the Republic of China (1949). The exhibition aims to inherit local ethnic culture and promote social education centered on love for the country and hometown.
