Lake Bogoria

Lake Bogoria is located in Kenya's Rift Valley Province, on the edge of the Great Rift Valley, north of Lake Baringo. It is a well-known calcium carbonate lake in Kenya, covering an area of about 30 square kilometers, and serves as a habitat for numerous birds and wildlife.

Lake Bogoria is a gathering place for many flamingos. By April, tens of thousands of flamingos flock here in large groups, creating a truly spectacular sight. The pinkish-red hue of the flamingos turns the lake surface into an astonishing shade of red, often making the lake look like a beautiful pink carpet. Another highlight of Lake Bogoria is its ever-changing colors throughout the day. The lake contains a significant amount of blue-green algae and diatoms. Depending on the time of day and sunlight, the water displays various vibrant hues such as yellow, pink, and magenta, leaving visitors in awe.

Due to frequent volcanic activity near Lake Bogoria, the western shore is dotted with geysers and hot springs, many of which reach boiling point. There is abundant steam, and eggs can be easily boiled in just a short time—an attraction that draws many tourists.
