Port Elizabeth is located in South Africa's Eastern Cape Province, 770 kilometers from Cape Town. It is one of the country’s largest cities and a major port city, historically known as the “Friendly City” or the “Wind City.”

Port Elizabeth is a major automotive industry center in South Africa and is dubbed the “Detroit of South Africa,” with assembly plants established here by multiple car companies such as Ford, General Motors, and Volkswagen. It is also celebrated as the “Watersport Capital” of South Africa, a paradise for water sports enthusiasts that attracts numerous tourists who come to enjoy the beautiful beaches and take part in activities like diving, sailing, windsurfing, kiteboarding, and stand-up paddleboarding. Notable local attractions include the City Hall built in 1862, the Clock Tower commemorating the 1820 Settlers, the lush St George’s Park, the expansive Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum, and the National Park, an important recreational venue for residents. In addition, it is a prime spot for whale watching from June to August and November to January each year, offering visitors close encounters with other marine life as well.
