Seljalandsfoss
Seljalandsfoss is one of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls, located between Skógafoss and Selfoss on the Seljalandsá River, about 30 kilometers west of Skógar. It is considered one of the most photogenic waterfalls in Ireland and has appeared multiple times in books and magazines.
Standing at 60 meters tall, the waterfall plunges over a cliff, where its white cascades blend beautifully with the surrounding scenery, making it a favorite among photography enthusiasts. Visiting Iceland without seeing Seljalandsfoss would be a real pity, as those who have been there speak highly of it. Though it may not rank among the largest or tallest waterfalls in Iceland, it is certainly one of the most elegant and beautiful. The most magical time to see Seljalandsfoss is during sunrise or sunset, when sunlight illuminates the water curtain, creating a stunning, sparkling mist that is truly enchanting.
In summer, the waterfall is surrounded by lush green hillsides, vibrant meadows, colorful fragrant wildflowers, and murmuring streams, resembling a paradise on earth. Everyone is amazed by how it seems to hang suspended from the mountainside yet harmonizes so beautifully with its surroundings.
