Harpa

The full name of Harpa is "Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre." Located in Reykjavik, it was put into use in 2011 and was jointly completed by Danish architectural firms and architects. It is said to have drawn inspiration from Iceland’s stunning landscapes and the breathtaking Northern Lights, with an emphasis on reflecting the beauty of Iceland.

Harpa has been recognized as one of the world’s 15 most beautiful concert halls. Its iconic transparent brick walls appear to continuously shift in color and light, creating a dialogue between the city and the life inside the building. Covering an area of 28,000 square meters, the overall structure resembles a basalt rock rising from the coastline. The building’s façade design is inspired by nature, with geometric patterns modeled after local basalt formations. From here, you can gaze at the distant mountains and the vast ocean. The concert hall, together with the city, mountains, sea, and sky, forms a stunning visual composition. Its ever-changing luminance represents the colorful and ever-shifting hues of the Aurora Borealis.
