Attraction Introduction

Since 1856, the business was established in the small town of Monte Carlo, north of the harbor in the capital city of Monaco, where the world's largest "Grand Casino" was built and opened in 1861. The casino is a two-story palace-style building, featuring a belvedere, tower hall, and arched pavilions. Its elaborately carved exterior walls exhibit a strong French Baroque style, elegant and classic. Inside, the murals and sculptures are lavishly ornate. This gambling city has tightly attracted thrill-seeking gamblers from around the world. Everything here, from hotel room numbers and breakfast plates to milk cups and stamp albums, serves as part of the gambling allure. In 1967, the casino was taken over by the government. By the end of the last century, as the "Grand –" spun non-stop day and night, the annual revenue exceeded 40 million French francs. Gambling revenues once accounted for over 70% of the nation’s total annual income, and even now remain at around 40%. Meanwhile, tourism and real estate industries have flourished accordingly, with recent years seeing a “land is worth its weight in gold” situation—land prices reaching as high as 80,000 to 100,000 French francs per square meter, a truly remarkable figure. Yet, Western investors and wealthy businessmen continue to flock here in increasing numbers every year. Star-rated hotels, presidential suites, and luxurious facilities rank among the best in the world. The streets of the gambling city are bustling, with casinos everywhere and tourists gathering in droves. Classic games such as the traditional twenty-one (Blackjack), the modern three-card game, and the Italian favorite "Taroqi" are all extremely popular. Each year, over 200,000 gambling tourists visit. Monte Carlo has thus earned the title of "World Gambling Capital."
