Monte Carlo

Monte Carlo is a town in the Principality of Monaco, home to the world-famous Casino de Monte-Carlo. It attracts numerous visitors every year with events such as the Rallye de Monte-Carlo in January and the Formula One Monaco Grand Prix in May. In addition, the area thrives with a music season, opera performances, the International Circus Festival (held in late January), ballet, and spectacular fireworks displays from July to August. The origin of the name "Monte Carlo": In 1856, Prince Charles III, aiming to resolve a financial crisis, opened the first casino on the peninsula north of the old town. To honor him, the area was later named Monte Carlo.
