Barrowgate Museum is located in Alnwick, Northumberland, England, right opposite the main entrance of Alnwick Castle. It is a small independent museum primarily dedicated to presenting and exhibiting the history of Alnwick and the Northumberland region, with a staff mainly composed of volunteers.

Barrowgate Museum is housed within the historic St. Mary's Church building in Alnwick, which was originally built in 1836 and is one of the oldest buildings in the town. The church’s original organ remains intact. The museum’s exhibitions blend traditional displays with hands-on interactive activities, making them suitable for visitors of all ages. The museum features six unique thematic exhibits that encapsulate the area’s full historical and cultural heritage. The displays include items specific to Alnwick as well as other objects related to the social history of Northumberland, covering key areas such as agriculture, domestic life, railways, coal mining artifacts, printing, a large photography exhibition, paintings, and bound volumes of Northumberland newspapers. Additionally, there is an exhibit featuring a rare 18th-century fire pump, as well as displays related to RAF Boulmer airbase.

The museum houses local newspapers dating back to the late 19th century, making them one of the most important historical resources for studying the area’s culture and heritage. The museum also encourages local artists to display their works or hold solo exhibitions here, so visitors can discover something new on each visit.
