Restoration of the garden began about ten years ago, and after careful nurturing by the Duchess, the entire garden has now gained considerable fame.

Alnwick Garden is one of the world’s most promising new gardens. The vision of the Duchess of Northumberland was to create a garden for the 21st century that would inspire imagination, delight, and joy—where visitors could forget time and troubles and simply have fun. Designed by Jacques and Peter Wirtz, it is a perfect blend of space, theme, and play. The garden consists of different zones, built around a cascading waterfall at its central area.

At Alnwick Garden, from the tranquility of the Cherry Orchard and the joy of the Cascade, to the mystery of the Bamboo Labyrinth, the enchanting water sculptures of the Serpent Garden, the intrigue of the Poison Garden, and the world’s largest treehouse, there are all kinds of surprises waiting to be explored. Here, all your senses can be delighted, with over 4,000 types of plants to admire and thousands of seasonal flowers in bloom.
