The English name of Cliffside Manor is Cragside Manor, and it earned the beautiful moniker "Cliffside Manor" due to its unique geographical location. It is situated in the Cartington area of Northumberland, England, and is the world's first building to use hydroelectric power as an indoor energy source. It is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Northumberland and also one of the most well-known in the UK.

Built in 1863, Cliffside Manor is one of the few remaining Victorian-style buildings in the UK. This structure stands on a slope covered with rocky cliffs and is surrounded by 4 square kilometers of trees and plants, giving off a sense of seclusion from the world. The manor was actually the residence of the famous British inventor and entrepreneur William Armstrong. Initially, it was a two-story country house, but later, under the design of Norman Shaw, it was expanded into an elaborately designed Tudor Revival building. Additionally, the estate includes an observatory and a science laboratory. In 1868, a hydraulic engine was installed in the building for the first time. Since then, hydroelectric power as an indoor energy source greatly facilitated daily life inside the home, which included features such as fire alarm buttons, telephones, a passenger lift, and a Turkish bath suite.

Next to Cliffside Manor, there is also a play area, a rhododendron maze, a small waterfall, and fitness trails, as well as over 30 miles of lakeside walking paths — truly an excellent destination.
