Christ Church Cathedral

Christ Church Cathedral is the cathedral church of the Church of England's Diocese of Oxford (which includes Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Berkshire), and also serves as the chapel for Christ Church College at the University of Oxford. Christ Church Cathedral is often referred to as the smallest cathedral in England, but there are now some even smaller ones, as several churches were elevated to cathedral status during the 20th century. The famous philosopher John Locke is buried here.

The church was built in 1546 and still retains its original Gothic tracery. It consists of the nave, the Latin Chapel, the Lady Chapel, the sanctuary, the choir, the Lucy Chapel, and the ante-chapel. The cathedral features a grand and luxurious dome, with finely carved pillars and vaulting, as well as dreamlike stained glass windows. The central organ, built in 1979, produces beautiful music that resonates throughout the cathedral. Beside the sanctuary is the "St Catherine’s Window," a stained glass panel depicting Edith, the sister of Alice from *Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland*, making it especially popular among book lovers.
